The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) actively represents the business interests of more than 21,000 enterprises in industry, trade, transport, bank, insurance and services, in the local region of Lippe, the north-eastern area of North Rhine-Westphalia – which includes the city of Detmold situated 117 kilometer west of Hanover in Lower Saxony.
Duties and responsibilities of the Chamber Lippe are the following:
- Representation of the overall business interests of entrepreneurs and companies in their district
- Responsibilities of public administration
- Individual counseling
The work of the Chamber is essentially based on the voluntary engagement of its member companies.
Job of the Chamber
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) is partner of the business in Lippe. According to the public law the Chamber promotes the economy of their Chamber district, advocates the overall interest of their member companies by considering compensatively and deliberatively the economic interests of individual branches and companies and helps to preserve manners and customs of a reputable businessman. The state has transferred a multitude of responsibilities of public administration to the Chamber.
Responsibilities
As an institute of self-administration of the economy the CCI can operate their duties more business oriented as a public authority. The Chamber is amongst others the relevant authority for vocational training and final examinations, it puts official experts under oath, issues foreign trade documents, deals with notarizations, proposes voluntary judges or issues written certifications about driver schooling in terms of dangerous goods.
Additional achievements
Beyond these responsibilities of public administration the CCI offers its related companies a wide range of services within the scope of business development. It both represents the interests of companies opposite political persons in charges and opposite political authorities and offices.
The CCI gets involved in the range of vocational and further training, advises founders of a new business, supports companies to establish contacts to international markets. The companies get hints to support programs or questions about environmental protection, retail industry, transport sector or the industry and about many other areas.
How is the Chamber organized?
Almost 800 companies and executive managers of all sectors and size of enterprises of Lippe get involved with voluntary work in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lippe-Detmold. In the plenary meeting, in the executive committee, in the committee of experts, in the working team and in particular in the examination boards their expert knowledge is indispensable.
The member companies decide about all questions which are essential for the economy within the Chamber district by their elected representatives in the Chamber plenary meeting. They also work on questions which are essential for the practice of the CCI.
The plenary meeting decides about the Chamber finances as well as about the due schedule. It is elected among the president and the vice president, appoints the members of the committee of experts and appoints the full-time dealing General Executive Manager.
