Monument of Hermann the German
The monument of Hermann the German is one of the most famous monuments in Germany. It commemorates the battle of the Teutoburg Forest of Romans and Germans in the year 9 AD.
The region´s landmark is outstanding but Lippe can offer more.
Music and theater are important elements of the city Detmold. The famous college of music in Detmold offers great concerts throughout the whole year. The theater in Detmold provides a wide repertoire of ballet, musical, opera and play.
The historic city centers of Bad Salzuflen, Blomberg, Detmold, Horn and Lemgo invite visitors to social loafing or amazement because of their well preserved frame houses and renaissance houses.
Numerous castles and palaces shape until today the 800 years old history of Lippe with its power of noble dynasties. In 1528 Lippe became a shire and in 1789 a principality.
